Through the Microscope:
A close-up
look at the basic elements of fertility
A complete medical evaluation is recommended if you are unable to
conceive after 1 year of unprotected intercourse, or 6 months of
unprotected intercourse if you or your partner are/is over the age of
35. Time is an increasingly important factor after 35 years of age,
especially for your female partner. An evaluation should be performed
earlier if male or female infertility risk factors exist (family history
of infertility, exposure to gonadotoxins, history of undescended
testicle, etc.) or if you simply question your fertility potential.
The purpose of the evaluation is to identify conditions contributing
to infertility that are either potentially reversible, meaning we can
assist you in achieving a pregnancy in a conventional manner, or
irreversible and better suited to assisted reproductive technologies.
This will be your first and most important step in diagnosis and
treatment. A careful and in-depth preliminary evaluation will allow our
team to select the most appropriate, cutting-edge treatment options
available, tailored to your unique case and needs.
